1 (of 9). Scenario One

It's 8 am, you arrive for your first day at citizenM hotels and you get an impressive and exclusively designed uniform. You are asked to assist at canteenM. By 8.30 am, the first guest orders a regular coffee. Easy. By 9.00 you are asked to make a double latte espresso, one tall, one small, one decaf coffee – no cream, one mint tea, one chai latte tea, three cappuccino's – one with extra milk, one with more sugar, two hot chocolate, a bottle of water and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. How do you respond?

You're already looking for the oranges.
You look for pen and paper.
You decide that everyone will get tea instead.
You tell them kindly that canteenM is closed.

2 (of 9). Scenario Two

You witness a couple walking into citizenM hotel. The lady is carrying a rather large handbag. The handbag moves and barks when she's standing still at the check-in. She is rushing her partner to hurry up. What do you do?

You walk up to the lady and you whisper that you love dogs. You also tell her that you have a Golden Retriever at home called Silver, and that you miss him while being at work. You give her a wink and walk off.
You walk over to the couple and ask if they need any assistance. When they say no, you walk away and you carry on cleaning the lobby living rooms.
You welcome the couple and you ask if they've heard of the citizenM terms and conditions. You skip all sections and you recite the articles concerning pets. You don't stop until she confesses.
You kick the bag to see what happens.

3 (of 9). Scenario Three

Mr. Toyota, Hawaiian blouse, khaki shorts wearing socks and sandals. He's attired in a full Sony wardrobe. He carries the camera, the hand-cam, the portable dvd-player and the VAIO. Very politely, he asks you where he can find the almost extinct Butterfish, better known as Pholis Gunnulus in the animal kingdom, sectioned as a relative of the Engraulis encrasicolus fish. How do you respond?

Ahh, he has mistaken. The Engraulis encrasicolus is not related to the Pholis Gunnulus. Clearly, the Pholis Gunnulus is related to the Leucaspius delineatus! However, you understand it's a common mistake and you give him precise directions on a personally drawn map to the lake where they are found.
You walk away.
You honestly tell him that you don't know, but you help the man research the location of the fish by looking on the citizenM community and on search engines.
You start laughing and you tell Mr. Toyota to stop the charades. You start yelling in the lobby that the camera crew can come out now. You've seen every trick in the book and you're not falling for this one.

4 (of 9). Scenario Four:

You see a guest sitting by the bar. It's 10.00 pm. He's fumbling with his briefcase. He waves you over, and asks you for a screwdriver. What is your first reaction?

You look at him puzzled. You start wondering if the hotel even has tools. You panic. There's no colleague near you to ask where citizenM keeps its tools. There's an awkward silence between you and the guest. By this point, you can't even remember what a screwdriver looks like. Drills, bolts, chainsaws, all look alike now. You turn bright red and you run off.
You take his briefcase and you smash it across the floor. The briefcase opens and you say 'You're welcome.'
You jump behind the bar, you grab the mood pad, you press the 'party' mood button. The lights go on and on the beat of the music, you start throwing bottles into air and perform a full 3 minutes juggling performance. You slide the Screwdriver alongside the bar until it stops in front of the guest. You walk over, casually drop the slice of lemon in his glass and you say with a big smile 'Welcome to citizenM.'
You come back with a sledgehammer.

7 (of 9). You see someone using his RFID room card as a luggage tag! What do you do?

You stop the guest and insist on removing the RFID card from his luggage.
You compliment the guest, wishing him a safe flight and a happy return to citizenM.
You make a photo of the guest and post it on the citizenM community.
You tackle him, you rip the luggage tag off, and you start running through the lobbies.

8 (of 9). A guest tells you that she really likes the citizenM shower gel. It reminds her of when she was younger. She politely asks you where she could find these shower gels to take home. How do you respond?

You go into discussion why you think citizenAM is better than citizenPM.
You think both stink. You let her know what you think.
You tell her who made the luxurious amenities and that we also have complimentary hand soaps. You then bring her to the retail shop.
You tell her that she can only take the hand soap home with her and if we find out that the citizenPM bottle is missing from her room, we will track her down by her RFID card, retrieve the bottle from her house and charge her a fine of $5,000 dollars.

9 (of 9). A guest is smoking in the citizenM hallway! How do you respond?

You ask for a lighter.
You take the fire extinguisher and hose the guest down.
You call the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms - code 5.
You politely tell the guest that smoking is prohibited on the citizenM premises and that he's free to smoke outside.
